It is important to be aware of your local regulations regarding electrical works.
In many communities, there are limitations on the work an unlicensed person may do… even the owner of the house. There are also distinctions made between what an unlicensed homeowner can do and what an unlicensed tradesman can do.
There are also distinctions made within types of electrical work. Appliance installation, for example, is always not considered banned electrical work if the original wiring and connection was made by a authorised electrician.
Regional regulations exist because of and are often based on local concerns. Densely crowded areas, such as large cities, strive to have electrical codes severely limiting homeowner electrical interventions because mistakes can endanger hundreds or thousands of city-dwellers! Community codes are often less stringent, making possible more owner flexibility and involvement in the process. Local environmental situation such as the possibility of earthquakes, heavy T-storms or cyclones, the level of the water table, amount of rainfall and general humidity, soil conditions, and the types of construction materials used|available also affect the local electrical code.
Of all the works that you may do around your home, the most potentially hazardous mistakes are in faulty electrical wiring! Countless house fires are caused by poor wiring techniques, substandard materials, cheap extension cords, or broken electrical appliances. The trouble and the trap lies in the fake simplicity of electrical work. Small mistakes can cause quick and severe consequences. Bad wiring techniques can cause shock hazards that could not be evident till the accident happens.

That is why there is an electrical code, so everyone is familiar on the correct and incorrect way to perform an electrical repair and installation. If every household was wired under a random standard, how could anyone without paranormal abilities discover how to repair a circuit?
We are not trying to prevent you from educating and increasing your skills. We wouldn’t have little chance of doing it, anycase. But you should know by now that we are a strong advocate of independence and self-reliance. But if one person destroyed his home down because he was thinking that he could do that electrical job, and was not sufficiently knowledgeable to do the job|task right… well, that is not what we had in mind when started this energoproject. We have seen some electrical wiring disasters throughout Russia, and major share|most were done by homeowners who thought that doing electrical wiring|work was no more worthy of care than sweeping the backyard!
